The UK’s first multi-sport national event for young athletes since lockdown, the 2021 School Games National Finals, is now truly underway!

After a tough year and a half of lockdown restrictions, 1,300 talented young athletes have descended on Loughborough University to compete across 10 sports including disability disciplines.

In its 14th year, the National Finals will be celebrating the resilience of the young athletes as they compete on this national stage at Loughborough University Campus.

After a great first day on Thursday, which saw Triathlon and Hockey begin, Friday saw the sporting event truly flourish with an additional 7 sports beginning their pooling rounds as the finals draw closer.

Laser Run began today, seeing great results from the Under 15’s across the Individual and Team Events. The Saxons Girls and Tudors Boys clinched Gold, while the Tudors’ Zinzan Sargent from Somerton and Chloe Johnson from Durham topping the Individual leader board.

Over at the Paula Radcliffe Athletics Track, the field events saw countless young athletes follow in the footsteps of the likes of Holly Bradshaw, who had opened the Finals the day before.

Highlights included the Girls High Jump in which Halle Ferguson from Preston, Gracie Wall from Stotfold, Bedfordshire, and Eloise Hind from Oxford medalled in Gold, Silver, and Bronze respectively.

Similarly, in the Boys Shot Put, George Lowe from Preston, Brydon Duncan from Bromley, and Zack Grinsted from Luton went away with their medals in the same descending order.
