And they’re off! The School Games National Finals 2022 officially begins at Loughborough University.
The best of Britain’s young athletes have been training hard all year and their moment has finally arrived.
We are well and truly underway at Loughborough University for
the 15th School Games National Finals with the arrival of over 1,000
hopeful athletes who will compete across ten Olympic and Paralympic sports
including triathlon, wheelchair basketball and hockey to name a few.
This year’s event is particularly special as it takes place on the 10th anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Its legacy is the reason why School Games National Finals takes place!
The first day saw excitement build as athletes made themselves at home in the athlete lounge, gave media interviews and roamed the elite sport performance campus while taking in the competition atmosphere.
Elsewhere on the grounds, final preparations were in place as athletes were getting their last training session in before getting gameday ready and showcasing their year’s hard work.
Kicking off this year’s events was Triathlon that started with the Aquathlon and saw Brandon Pye and Annabelle Sour clinching Gold in the Boys and Girls events respectively, with Ollie Scott taking first in Aquathon.
Keep an eye on the individual sports’ results here. Also check out the snaps from Day 1 on our Flickr channel!
We also want to take this time to thank all our partners, who’s continued support helps to bring this event showcasing Britain’s best young talent to life.
We can’t wait to see what the rest of the weekend has to offer!
