Athletes who have previously taken part in the School Games can be found competing in twelve different sports at the Gold Coast, for five separate teams: England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey and the Isle of Man!

The impressive list of alumni boasts world record holder, Olympic and World Champion, Adam Peaty, who has become a household name after holding the top 10 fastest times for 100m breaststroke.

Peaty competed in the School Games, a springboard for the UK’s most talented young athletes, back in 2010 and again in 2011.

Dominating the track, Paralympic gold medallist Sophie Hahn will be hoping to recreate her world record performance in the T38 100m sprint. The World Champion flourished at the School Games first in 2013, joining us again in 2015.

For the Isle of Man, alumni Nick Corlett, Matthew Draper and Nathan Draper will compete in cycling; Jersey’s sole alumnus is Gymnast Daniel Lee, who took part in the School Games back in 2006.

The School Games, which provides high-quality multi-sport competition for young athletes, has seen a fantastic number of its competitors become professional athletes, with the likes of Sophie Hitchon, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Adam Gemili, Elinor Barker, Max Whitlock having participated.

A fantastic pathway that allows school age athletes to experience a mini-Olympics feel, this year’s National Finals are not to be missed!
