Athletics
Athletics has been part of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games since their inceptions. At the 2022 School Games, competitors took to the track and field for an action-packed sports programme.

Cricket
Following its successful School Games debut in 2017, Cricket returned to the competition in 2022 to give 39 players, selected from eight Regional Academies, the chance to compete over three days of T20 competition.

Cycling BMX
This explosive speed sport also requires a huge amount of skill, and demonstrates both the technical and speed sides of the sport with a skills competition.

Cycling Road & Track
This year, with the combination of two cycling disciplines across the competition, proved to be a real test of all round skills. Paracycling was included once again demonstrating the School Games’ commitment to disabled sport.

Hockey
Hockey has always been a popular inclusion at the School Games and returned again this year with another intriguing tournament that provided plenty of action.

Modern Pentathlon
Following a fast-paced and action-packed event in 2021, Laser Run is back! This year, channelling even more elements of the Olympic sport of Modern Pentathlon, athletes were put to the ultimate test by competing in swimming, running, and shooting across the four days of the event.

Netball
Following a successful National Finals for Netball in 2018 and 2021, the sport returned for the 2022 National Finals with some great teams competing.

Triathlon
Triathlon and Paratriathlon returned to the National Finals in 2022. As a multi-discipline competition involving three continuous endurance sports (swimming, cycling, and running), it is a unique inclusion in the competition schedule.

Wheelchair Basketball
Undoubtedly the ultimate para sport, wheelchair basketball delivers as both a team sport and an incredible spectator experience. Fast and furious, with speed and skill delivered in abundance by the rising stars of junior wheelchair basketball.

Wheelchair Tennis
One of very few professional para sports, Wheelchair Tennis delivers fantastic career opportunities and has a high profile on the world stage due to being integrated into all four Grand Slams and being part of the Paralympic Games for the last 30 years. It is fast and exciting, and offers plenty to inspire the next generation of champions.
